The New York Giants may have finished at 5-11 and in the basement of the NFC East this past season, but that doesn’t mean they were without talented players putting up remarkable numbers.
In fact, quite a few Giants provided reasons for optimism going into 2019, and perhaps none exemplified that more than rookie running back Saquon Barkley and kicker Aldrick Rosas.
Both players put up record-breaking numbers that few others have ever come close to achieving, and both were deservedly voted into the Pro Bowl. And now, they have something else in common.
Pro Football Focus released their 2018 All-Pro Team on Tuesday afternoon and both Barkley and Rosas carved out a spot.
RB – SAQUON BARKLEY, NEW YORK GIANTS
Statistics say the draft is often a crapshoot, but that’s not the case with a player like Saquon Barkley. The Giants running back was as advertised his rookie season after being drafted number two overall. His 71 combined broken tackles were the most of any player in the NFL.
K – ALDRICK ROSAS, NEW YORK GIANTS
Rosas turned things around in a big way in 2018. He went 31-32 on extra points and 32-33 on field goals with his only miss coming from 50+. This comes after a year in which he only went 18-25 on his field goal attempts.
No other Giants player, including wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. and safety Landon Collins, made either the First- or Second-Team. And in the case of both Barkley and Rosas, this represents their first time being named PFF All-Pro’s.
