2019 NFL Draft order: Giants currently seventh after winning another game

Though they were underdogs at home, the New York Giants came though with an overtime win Sunday against the Chicago Bears. While their fourth win technically kept their playoff hopes alive for another week, it also had effects on the Giants’ draft standing.

After winning their third game in four weeks, the Giants’ currently hold the seventh overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. They are currently tied in record with the Detroit Lions, Atlanta Falcons, Buffalo Bills, and Jacksonville Jaguars at 4-8. The current order is decided by strength of schedule.

Current draft order

  1. San Francisco 49ers (2-10, .526)
  2. Oakland Raiders (2-10, .568)
  3. New York Jets (3-9, .503)
  4. Arizona Cardinas (3-9, .524)
  5. Detroit Lions (4-8, .500)
  6. Atlanta Falcons (4-8, .503)
  7. New York Giants (4-8, .511)
  8. Buffalo Bills (4-8, .521)
  9. Jacksonville Jaguars (4-8, .545)
  10. Green Bay Packers (4-7-1, .482)

Giants fans have been particularly keen for an answer to the looming quarterback question, but that might not be forthcoming.

The Giants aren’t out of range of a potential trade up, but they are lacking in assets to trade. As well, Justin Herbert, the apple of many fans’ eye, is injured and has reportedly not interviewed potential agents. On the other hand, Ohio State quarterback Dwayne Haskins is reportedly leaning toward entering the draft.

That being said, it is far too early to speculate about which players, or positions, the Giants might target at the top of the 2019 draft, though the more they win, the more the potential pool of options expands.
