5 New York Giants the fans don’t want to see in 2019

2018 could end up being a turning point for the New York Giants and send them on an upward trajectory in the NFC East standings. But for that to happen, they’ll have to cut a little closer to the bone than they did this season when they turned over the better part of 70% of their roster.

Naturally, they’ll turn over another 30% or more this spring and summer. So with that in mind, here are some of the people the fans want gone before the new league year begins in March.

Brad Penner-USA TODAY Sports

He’s not just the fan’s choice, he’s everyone’s choice to be the first to go. The Giants signed Riley to a one-year, $630K deal last March and his role was to that of a primary backup and special teams player. He ended up starting all 16 games this season at free safety.

The Giants made a grave error by trusting Riley, who took bad angles on ball-carriers, missed coverages, and eventually tackles, that sealed his fate with the team. He was benched in the season finale after allowing a Cowboys’ player to score unchallenged.

Riley is will be a free agent in March and the Giants will simply not re-sign him.
