EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) — The New York Giants have hired Mike Dawson and Henry Baker as assistant coaches for the protection.
In saying the additions Monday, the Giants mentioned Dawson will be the outdoors linebackers mentor, when Baker will be the team’s assistant defensive backs mentor.
Baker replaces Deshea Townsend, who was lately hired as the Chicago Bears’ defensive backs mentor. Dawson replaces Rob Leonard, who left to become the Miami Dolphins’ linebackers mentor. Dawson spent the previous a few seasons as a defensive line mentor under Scott Frost at Central Florida and Nebraska.
Dawson performed soccer at North Middlesex Regional High College. He later grew to become the school’s athletic director.
Dawson was on the Eagles’ coaching staff members from 2013-15, the a few seasons Giants mentor Pat Shurmur was Philadelphia’s offensive coordinator. Dawson also coached at Boston College, Akron and New Hampshire. He was a a few-yr starter at linebacker and defensive conclude at UMass.
Baker will come to the Giants from Rutgers, where by he returned on Jan. 2 as cornerbacks mentor and passing sport coordinator. He spent the 2018 time at North Carolina as cornerbacks mentor — the posture he held at Rutgers in 2017.
Baker also worked at Delaware, East Stroudsburg and Maryland, his alma mater.
