Eli Manning and his impressive second-half run over the New York Giants’ past five games came to an abrupt ending during the team’s 17-0 loss to the Tennessee Titans in Week 15.
With a Minnesota Vikings victory and the Giants loss, New York has officially been eliminated from the 2018 postseason and now all of their attention and focus can be shifted to the 2019 offseason. Of course, we can’t dive into the talk of what is to come in 2019 without talking about the quarterback position and Manning’s role in the team’s future.
One thing we can certainly end is any foolish and misguided discussion about the Giants offense operating at a higher level without Odell Beckham Jr. With Beckham sidelined in Week 15, the Tennessee Titans did everything they could schematically to make sure running back Saquon Barkley would not beat them. This put the game in the hands of Manning and he did not deliver. Manning finished 21-of-44 for 229 passing yards, zero touchdowns, and one interception against the Titans.
Earlier on Sunday, a report surfaced suggesting the Giants were leaning toward retaining Manning as the starting quarterback in 2019.
After Manning’s disappointing performance, Giants fans have taken to social media in an attempt to make it known they do not want him to return as the starter in 2019. Scroll down to see what NFL analysts, fans, and players are saying about Manning and his ability to help the Giants win in 2019 and beyond.
