At times this season, we’ve seen the New York Giants climb in the power rankings after a loss, and we’ve seen them slide after a win. It’s really an inexact science and that continued again on Tuesday.
Following a dominating 40-16 victory over the Washington Redskins on Sunday — one that should have propelled the Giants up the latest USA TODAY power rankings — they did not budge from their spot at No. 22 overall.
Saquon Barkley needs 460 yards from scrimmage over final three weeks to break Eric Dickerson’s rookie record (2,212), established in 1983.
Comparatively, the Redskins fell six spots to No. 25 following the drubbing, which is now their low-water mark on what’s been a rollercoaster-like season in D.C.
The Philadelphia Eagles also feel dramatically, dropping five spots to No. 19 overall after an assist from the officials gave the Dallas Cowboys a huge NFC East victory. But the Cowboys got little for their trouble, also dropping one stop to No. 8 overall.
Finally, the New Orleans Saints reassured the top spot, leaping the Los Angeles Rams for the No. 1 spot overall, while the Arizona Cardinals fell one spot and are now, once again, alone in the basement at No. 32 overall.
