Giants will once again keep an eye on quarterbacks at Senior Bowl

The New York Giants have been rumored to be in the market for a quarterback for quite some time now. Many thought they would have taken a quarterback with the No. 2 overall pick in last year’s draft, but instead, Big Blue elected to go to with rookie of the year candidate Saquon Barkley.

While the debate will go on for years as to whether or not the Giants made a mistake by going with Barkley in a very quarterback-rich draft, most fans are thrilled to have Barkley on the team.

Many believed they had found Eli Manning’s successor when they drafted Davis Webb in the third round of the 2017 draft. Of course, the Giants moved on from Webb one year later in favor of 2018 fourth-round pick Kyle Lauletta.

Lauletta did not impressed in the limited action he saw during the 2018-2019 season.

Coincidentally, Lauletta and Webb were both named Senior Bowl MVPs and the Giants selected them in the NFL Draft in back-to-back years. Now, here in 2019, they will once again be keeping a close eye on talent at the Senior Bowl, including nearly a dozen quarterbacks.

Drew Lock (Missouri) and Daniel Jones (Duke) — the top quarterbacks after Dwayne Haskins, as ranked by — will highlight the roster for the North team. There is a lot still to be determined before this year’s draft, but the Senior Bowl could be a key contributor to any of the quarterbacks climbing the rankings.

Needless to say, the Giants still have not found Eli Manning’s heir apparent, unless you are of the belief that Kyle Lauletta is the guy. There have been rumors connecting the Giants to quarterbacks Kyler Murray and Dwayne Haskins. Just last week, Michael Strahan and Plaxico Burress separately shared their thoughts in favor of the Giants taking Murray or Haskins, who will most likely go in the first round of this year’s draft.

The Giants have plenty of holes on the roster they can fill on the offensive and defensive line and more. If they should choose to pass on a quarterback in the first round again, they may be eyeing one of the quarterbacks playing in the Senior Bowl.
