Giants would select No. 8 if season ended today

With the New York Giants’ ugly loss against the Tennessee Titans on Sunday, Big Blue was officially eliminated from playoff contention. With the unfortunate circumstances of the Giants no longer having any chance at making the postseason, many will keep a close eye on the draft order as the last two weeks of the regular season conclude.

If the season were to end today, the Giants would pick eighth overall according to With two games left on the season, Big Blue will most likely be underdogs both of their remaining games (at Indianapolis Colts, vs. Dallas Cowboys) and could very well finish at 5-11.

Reports surfaced Sunday morning prior to the game that Eli Manning was expected to return to Big Blue for the 2019-2020 season. With the eighth pick, the Giants would be in prime position to select an offensive lineman to help protect Manning.

Of course, speculations will continue about the possibility of Big Blue targeting a quarterback to be Manning’s heir apparent, eventually taking over for the two-time Super Bowl MVP. The only team that would be ahead of the Giants and has a need at quarterback (according to is the Jacksonville Jaguars, who would pick No. 5 overall as it currently stands.

There is still plenty of movement that could happen in the draft order over the final weeks. There is a belief around the league that the Oakland Raiders, who currently have the No. 2 overall pick could find themselves in the market for a quarterback if they choose to move on from Derek Carr.

However the dominos should fall, the Giants will likely be picking in the top 10 and could always trade up to land their quarterback of the future if they choose to go that route.

The order can certainly shift in the weeks to come even if the Giants’ win total remains the same. The Giants have a tough game on Sunday in Indianapolis with nothing but pride to play for.
