New York Giants’ Odell Beckham Jr. limited in practice on Wednesday

The New York Giants came away from the win over Washington basically unscathed with the exception of two players — tight end Rhett Ellison and safety Curtis Riley.

On Wednesday, Ellison sat out of practice with an ankle sprain sustained during the game on Sunday.

“I think you’ll get later that Odell Beckham (quad) will not be participating in practice. He was out there in the walk-thru moving around, he won’t be in practice, then Rhett Ellison (ankle) as well. One with a quad, one with an ankle, but everybody participated in the walk-thru moving around. We’ll just see where that takes us,” Shurmur told reporters.

Beckham was held out of last Sunday’s game and apparently isn’t ready to get back on the field full-time this week, but it’s early. No word on Riley’s level of participation in practice.

All three players were on the field for the pre-practice walkthrough, and contrary to what head coach Pat Shurmur had previously stated, Beckham did run routes and practice for roughly 20 minutes.

In other injury news, safety Landon Collins, who was placed on injured reserve (IR) last week with with a torn labrum in his shoulder underwent surgery this week to repair the injury. It reportedly was a success.

“He had his surgery yesterday, but aside from that, I haven’t spoken to him,” Shurmur said. “The surgery went well.”
