New York Giants select QB Kyler Murray in latest CBS Sports Mock Draft

In the vast majority of early 2019 NFL Mock Drafts, the New York Giants are commonly projected to select Ohio State quarterback Dwayne Haskins at No. 6 overall.

Haskins has repeatedly flirted with the idea of joining the Giants, his favorite childhood team, and even tweeted a photoshopped picture of himself in a New York uniform before hitting the delete button.

But what happens if Haskins is off the board when the Giants are on the clock?

CBS Sports recently pondered that exact scenario and came to an obvious solution: Oklahoma quarterback Kyler Murray, who officially declared for the NFL Draft on Monday after the Oakland A’s were unable to meet his financial demands to keep him on the diamond.

6. New York Giants

Kyler Murray, QB, Oklahoma. General manger Dave Gettleman sure sounds like he’s content to bring Eli Manning back for another season but imagine the Giants offense with Murray under center, Saquon Barkley in the backfield, and Odell Beckham and Evan Engram running routes. Woo boy.

Murray entering the NFL Draft certainly does change some things, but to what degree remains to be seen. Many experts and scouts view Murray as a second- or third-round pick, while others believe he’s worthy of a first-round pick.

Either way, Murray’s presence is intriguing because the quarterback class is relatively thin, and because his remarkable athleticism has many believing he could become a superstar with the right coaching. And, as fate would have it, Giants head coach Pat Shurmur is a bit of a quarterback whisperer.
