“That play. Can we talk about Shep’s block on that play? That was ridiculous,” Barkley said after the game, via The Daily News. “I mean first and foremost our O-line did a great job. Our tight ends did a great job on that scheme that we had there

After the win, head coach Pat Shurmur was amped up about the block made by Shepard — a total effort play.
“Part of what made that [78-yard touchdown] go was Sterling came down and blocked the safety. So, when he got the block on the safety, it just split,” Shurmur said. “Sterling had a lot to do with it. I thought out receivers blocked terrific.”
Shepard suffered a painful ribs injury during the Giants’ Week 13 upset victory over the Chicago Bears, but he returned to the game despite admitting to having trouble with breathing once he returned. Shepard is one of the toughest players on the Giants and he didn’t miss a single practice this past week before playing his normal workload against the Washington Redskins and catching a touchdown pass.
Shepard’s favorite play of the game wasn’t the one he scored on. It was the one he delivered this block for Barkley against Norman. This is the true sign of a team coming together and a culture-changing victory.
“I enjoy all my blocks, man,” Shepard said with a smile. “Any time you can spring a back for a big run, it’s lovely. It’s a good feeling.”
Shepard also delivered an excellent block on the Barkley’s 78-yard touchdown run:
